Research indicates that to succeed in life and work, all youth, including youth with disabilities, need to develop competence, confidence and obtain real-world experiences. The Georgia TeenWork Program recognizes the importance of including youth with disabilities in service provisions. By connecting schools and youth organizations with employers, these intermediaries leverage resources to help ensure developmentally disabled youth can gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the workforce or higher education. Georgia TeenWork will advocate for increased opportunities for youth with disabilities to gain work experiences. To enhance opportunities for youth with disabilities, the Georgia TeenWork Program will employ specialized job coaches to support participating youth and employers. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that youth with disabilities will have support while enjoying the satisfaction that comes with contributing their skills and knowledge to our local business community.
